I am 21 years old and am plagued by body acne (mostly scars, but still some bumps) on my chest, all over my back, and I think it is starting to move lower, since I found a couple of bumps on my buttocks area and leg. I used to have mountains of big red bumps on my face, but those have subsided a few years ago and left only light scaring on the cheeks and neck. While my face looks much better than it did throughout high school, my body acne has prevented from taking my shirt off in public for the past 4 or 5 years.
I’ve tried everything, including accutane, which very mildly reduced the bumps, but after 5 months gave me no noticeable improvements.
I am about 6’3″ 180 lbs, male, and I eat healthily. I live in Los Angeles and have heard many commercials about LDI (Laser Dermatology Institute) which claims to remove acne scars. I was wondering if anyone has received this treatment on severe acne or if anyone knows how effective it is, how long it takes to work, if results last, etc.

Acne removal surgery?

I’m 16. I’ve had acne for a few years (probably started around 8 or 9 because I hit puberty early). Anyway I’ve tried prescription acne treatments, noxema, clean and clear and proactive. It never clears my skin up all the way no matter what. So I’m sick of my acne now. I get like little cystic acne on my neck and face a lot and they hurt badly. I have it on my back, shoulders, neck, face and chest. I’ve tried everything and it just doesn’t work. On my best days, my skin looks good but it never clears up completely. So I’ve heard about acne removal surgery. Does it work and how much does it cost? How old do you have to be to get it (with parental consent) and what kind of doctor do you go to to get it? Please help. Thanks.
Gurly, there is something for acne removal. I’ve seen it before and it removes acne. Not for scars.

What is Acne Vulgaris? This is a medical term used to describe most cases of acne. It really isn’t as bad as it sounds! Vulgaris doesn’t mean that the acne is vulgar, only that it means that it is common.

Be aware that there are many factors that contribute to acne. First, research indicates a propensity for acne may well be inherited. Parents who had acne in their teenage and young adult years may have children who are likewise prone to having acne in their teen and young adult years.

What is the best acne scar removal treatment?

I have dark scars/spots from previous acne. I am tired of having to wear so much make-up to cover it up! I dont get acne that often anymore, but I do have oily skin. I’ve tried pro-active and other on the spot acne treatments but they don’t fade my scars at all.

I have a scar removal gel that works GREAT for my stretch marks and other scars, but I’ve yet to see this dramatic or any improvement in my acne scars.

They’re mostly on my forehead and some on my chin. They’re raised, not indented, if that means anything.

I don’t mind spending a little more money or waiting a month or to for a quality product that WORKS.
Would rather not have any procedures or surgeries, but I’ll keep an open mind.
