Question by : Can proactiv help cystic acne?
My boyfriend has severe acne, and I’m pretty sure it’s cystic, as some of it just turns into red bumps that don’t surface like regular pimples. Some are deep in his skin. He doesn’t have insurance right now to see a derm, and the military doesn’t do much to help with acne treatment. I was curious if proactiv works? Or any other products?

Everyone has suffered and panicked from the emergence of a zit on their face at one point in their lives. It is such an all-encompassing dermatologic problem because it causes physical, emotional, psychological and social pain to the person. Various kinds of back acne treatments have cropped up in the recent years but some of these still cannot deal with the more difficult kinds of acne.
The common zit, blackhead and whitehead are categorized under Acne Vulgaris. Benzoyl Peroxide, Salicylic acid and other topical antibiotics are the usually prescribed medications for this. However, there are other types of acne which covers the whole face, back and other parts of the body. Unfortunately, the needed back acne treatment for these should be the aggressive type. Here are some of those:

Okay so i do want to get Neutrogena Acne Stress Control products, i want a cleanser and the 3 in 1 treatment. But i don’t know which cleanser to get, i really want the scrub but i’m scared it will be too strong, but i do want a strong cleanser but not to the point where my skin is always peeling. I have an Olay cream cleanser right now and it makes my face soft and doesn’t clear my skin all that good. It’s soft thats what i like, but i want a cream cleanser that actually clears your face, so i don’t know if i should get the cream cleanser for acne stress control. Than there is the foam one, i havn’t heard much but it doesn’t seem like it would make my skin clear. Please tell me which one worked best for you and which one you liked the best and how long it took!! Also, if any of these help cystic acne ( time of the month pimples)
By the way, i have broke out alot due to my elizabeth arden clear the way mask, which i will never use again. It made me break out over night!! I’ve only had it for three days!!

look, i hate acne just as much as the rest of us, but thanks to my parents wonderful genes, i have cystic acne, and its really not bad anymore, but sometimes i get these cycst-like pimples that WILL NOT GO AWAY and they are so f***ing embarrassing, because they’re so deep that they cant even really be covered up. theyre like little hills, and even having one is just absolutely disgusting. does anyone else have this issue? im not talking about the kind of acne you can pop and et rid of, and surface treatments like proactive dont work, because these are deep in the pore. does anyone have any advice on how to get rid of these a little bit more quickly? waiting on these takes weeks sometimes, even when i wash my face a ton and exfoliate. thank you and God Bless!!

PLEASE READ MY WHOLE QUESTION; I REALLY WANT ACCURATE ANSWERS
so i’m fifteen, and like most other teenagers, i have acne. but recently, it has gotten to the worst it has ever been before. i used to break out in my T-zone, and i usually had a few zits on my face all the time, but it was manageable. but in the last two months, i’ve developed small whiteheads that now cover my entire forehead, as well as severe cystic acne and whiteheads all over my chin. i also break out on the sides of my nose and in between my eyes. the only places i have no zits are my cheeks and nose.
i used proactiv for over a year until last December. i felt like it worked okay but it only gave me clear skin after three months of using it, plus the clear skin only lasted about 2 months and i was back to moderate acne that was manageable, but still really bothered me.
after hearing great reviews about it, i decided i wanted to try the Clinique 3-step system. that was probably the worst decision i’ve ever made. instead of gradually improving my acne, it gradually made it worse and worse. i never had acne on my forehead until i used that, and my chin went from one or two small zits at a time on it to being completely covered in painful, red, cystic acne that i now have and can’t get rid of. after giving the Clinique two full months to work, i stopped using it about 2 and a half weeks ago. for the past week i’ve been using a natural brand- Burt’s Bees Acne Treatment System. Even though its only been a week, i don’t see any improvements whatsoever.
My mom won’t take me to the dermatologist because of the high cost, but she says that i really should use Proactiv again because she thinks it worked for me. I just am not sure if i should go back to Proactiv if there’s something better out there, that will really clear my acne and keep it gone. I want to try the Clean & Clear Acne Control Kit, as it has great reviews and one of my close friends swears by it. So i guess my question to you is- should i convince my mom to take me to the dermatologist, go back to Proactiv, try Clean & Clear, or do you know of something else that would work for me?

Will cleansers, soaps, and body washes without typical acne treatments (i.e. salycilic acid, benzoyl peroxide) help clear acne?
