Question by : Can anyone recommend an effective product for the treatment of acne scars/discoloration?
I don’t have pockmarks or any thing, just red spots and discoloration left over from previous break outs. So now I don’t have any acne anymore, but the discoloration that was left over just won’t seem to go a way! Does anyone know of any products/treatments that really work to fade discoloration from old breakouts?

You could try using Retin A cream. Many people have had great results using Retin A to improve their acne scars and discoloration left over from acne. You need to keep using it though as results don’t start to show for a few months.

The Mederma brand has worked well for me for scars on various places on my body, it’s a little pricey but give it a shot.
Also, if you have money to invest, check out the Mary Kay microdermabrasion skincare set. Over time it’ll help those scars fade by getting rid of “bad” skin

So embarrassing but I have body acne, not bad, but I get pimples on my shoulders, chest, back, upper thighs and butt. Does anyone know a good treatment? I know proactiv is good, but I don’t know if it works for the body. And I don’t want to spend that kind of money for something I haven’t heard of and don’t know if it works or not.

Has anyone tried the acne product AcneRX? They have a double your money back guarantee, so I’m tempted.?

I have school in like a month and I do not want to go back with a lot of acne. I have already tried proactiv and it doesn’t work for me. I’m gonna go to the dermatologist but they only have an appointment like 3 weeks away. Please somebody help!

I use to have small pimples..and I am on Doxycycline 50 mg and it is no longer helping.And now because,I am in my early 40′s I developed something called Cystic acne. ( Nodules )these are not small pimples anymore. these are Hard lumpy cysts that don’t heal in just a few weeks..! they hurt and are bigger in size! they are only on my face!

What I want to know is what helps heal them..? Do I use Differin gel..? do I use Lazer treatments..? and what is different from Extra strength proactive and DR Murad..? I have used Retin A,Doxycyline for 7 months doesn’t help anymore.:( Please help !

I have been researching different acne treatments for your body, and I found something called ZENMED. They have a body acne treatment but I have never heard of them before. They are a little pricey so I was just wondering if anyone has ever heard of it or know someone that has and if it is worth it?

Yes, I am aware of the downside of teens using this product. But after trying Dermatologists, Proactive, Probiotics – in short – everything I can think of, my 15 year old son is very upset over his cystic acne.

Does Accutane work on someone this young or are his hormones going too crazy at this point for anything to work?

Obviously if he started showing symptoms of depression while taking this I would stop the treatment immediately.

I have tried just about everything from over-the-counter things, to prescribed treatments and medication. Nothing seems to work, and while my face is very clear and I rarely have a blemish, it is still a problem on my shoulders, chest, and both my lower/upper back. It is not extreme, but enough to make me self-conscious. Does anyone know of anything organic/herbal that works?

I’ve been on and off Minocin for almost a year in order to treat my acne. (I also use RetinA). The first time I used it, I completely cleared up so my derm. took me off the medication. I started flaring up again and so he put me on 50 mcg instead of 100. It didnt really work and so now im back on 100 mcg. However, its been a month and i dont seem to be clearing up as well as before. I was wondering if anyone had had this experience. Or if anyone has been on this medication for so long? Im starting to get worried because i do know that taking antibiotics long term is not a good idea. I’d like to stop taking the medication but I’m worried my acne will just come back…

My son’s dermatologist is trying a prescription body wash for my son’s severe acne, and said if this doesn’t work, he will try accutane. I was reading up on the literature he gave us about it and some of the side effects are pretty bad. I’d like to hear from someone who’s used it, did it help the acne? What side effects did you have?

I had terrible acne as a teenager and although it’s gone now my skin looks dull, distressed and discoloured, it really makes me look unhealthy, would you recommend it?

I am 31 weeks pregnant with my first child and have very bad acne on my shoulders, chest, and back. I know this is due to increased horomones. My face is completely clear, due to my daily regimen of washing, toning, and moisturizing. Since I don’t usually have body acne, I don’t know of any good body washes or lotions that may help the situation. Can anyone recommend a good body wash or treatment? I have already tried Neutrogena Acne Body wash and it seems to make it worse.

I feel like I have tried EVERYTHING and nothing has seemed to help so I’m wondering if anyone can suggest something that might help? I am in mid-late 20′s and have been battling acne for almost 5 years. It’s not a little bit of acne, I break out on my cheeks and I have a new pimple almost every day and I get cystic acne on my neck. I have normal/oily skin.

I have tried the following products that didn’t do much:
DDF blemish foaming cleanser
Murad acne complex starter kit
Proactiv (this helped but REALLY dried my skin)
Neutrogena oil-free acne wash
Neutrogena oil-free acne stress control
Obagi nu-derm
Cetaphil for normal to oily skin
Clinique acne solutions

I’ve also used cleansers by
St. Ives
Biore
Clearasil
The list goes on…

I have also seen dozens of dermatologists and I’ve done the whole retin-A thing and tazorac and differin and whatever other crap they could possibly prescribe for acne (including dozens of different antibiotics). I’ve had weekly facials, I’ve gotten chemical peels, micros, used a high-frequency thing that kills bacteria, I’ve been under blue lights and red lights and used lasers…
I’ve seen some of the best dermatologists in America and still nothing.

I am currently taking yaz because it was between that and acutane and yaz’s side effects seemed a little less severe.

Is there a product that I haven’t come across that might help? Or maybe a bunch of different products that might work together that someone has tried?

Has anyone had the blue light laser acne treatment? I am interested to know if it is effective for back acne.

I currently have very smooth, spot-free skin, but left over scars from previous spots. It is really depressing. Looking at websites, they are definitely not the worst scars in the world – very small, about 5 on each cheek, but dark red / purple.
I have tried all sorts of creams from the doctor, and have tried herbal treatments and everything.
Any advice on other treatments or where to go for laser treatment? Also how much?
