Accutane is the most popular cystic acne medication; however it doesnât work foreveryone. I assume that before taking another course of Cystic Acne Accutane:

My son’s dermatologist is trying a prescription body wash for my son’s severe acne, and said if this doesn’t work, he will try accutane. I was reading up on the literature he gave us about it and some of the side effects are pretty bad. I’d like to hear from someone who’s used it, did it help the acne? What side effects did you have?

Acne can range in severity from a relatively small number of whiteheads, to a proliferation of cysts and nodules. Certain types of acne, particularly the more severe types can cause pain to its sufferer. The treatment for cystic acne can sometime cause irritation or downright discomfort for acne sufferer. Cystic acne is categorized as a severe form of acne and it is not the usual mild acne that most people suffer. Refusing to take acne treatment or acne medication can lead to a more severe type of acne.

I’m 26 and I have been suffering from cystic acne for about 10 yrs. I’ve tried all the topical creams and anti-biotics for it, nothing has ever worked even remotely. About a year and a half ago, i finally decided to give Accutane a go. I took accutane for about 4 months, but i was not regular with it. I would miss days often. My acne did get much better, it’s a year and a half later and my cystic acne has returned with a vengance. Now, was it that accutane just didn’t work, or was the fact that i wasn’t very regular with the treatment the reason?
Also, i’m considering going back on accutane, as i didn’t suffer from any of the side effects the first time around. Is accutane my only option here?

I have cystic acne, and my doctor told me that I should definitely try Accutane. The only issue is that my insurance doesn’t cover it and it would cost over $1000 a month. I’ve been using the Murad acne process and that’s been working well for me, but that doesn’t work for the cystic acne under the skin, only the blemishes on the top layer. Are there any other medications or products that have worked on cystic acne that you know of? Thank you times ten in advance.
I’m already using a topical treatment called Murad. It’s basically Proactive x10 so that really won’t help me. That doesn’t take care of acne under the skin, only on top.
