Does Accutane work for cystic acne?

I will be starting my first treatment of Accutane in less than a month.
I am a little nervous about it, but I am fully dedicated to clearing up my painful cystic acne.
I have tried so many products over the years with no results.
I am so sick and tired of suffering!! My acne is ruining my life, physically and emotionally. I don’t even want to leave my house anymore unless I have pounds of makeup on. When I talk to anyone including friends or family members all i think about is my face and if they are looking at it.
I don’t want to live that way anymore, I have a whole life ahead of me and I don’t want acne to be my main stress in life as it is for me right now.

I am 18 years old going on 19 and have suffered for about 4 years.
My face isn’t as bad as a lot of people out there and I am fortunate for that, but it is very painful and I need a change.

Actually, I’m taking another form of Accutane, which is called Accuran, and it’s exactly the same in the levels of isotretinoin. I managed to keep taking the pills for all the months my derm told me despite the side effects which were at a medium level. I’m finishing at the end of June. I’m afraid that after some years the acne will return to my face, my back, my chest, my legs and arms though some people say it won’t. What will actually happen?

Via www.dermtv.com – Accutane is to many people a miracle drug; it cures their acne. But there are side effects to consider. Dr. Schultz will walk you through the pros and cons of Accutane.

Should i take Accutane?

I’m a 16 year old male and I’m wondering if i should take Accutane or not. I have mild/moderate acne and have micro cystic bumps to the left/right side of my chin going up to my lips and 3-4 medium-sized pimples on the side of my face during a breakout. I’ve tried Pro-active and that only “managed” my acne. I’m currently on Minocycline(100mg twice daily) and Duac in the morning/ Differin at night. I absolutely hate acne and it can lower my self- confidence a lot. I am very grateful i have it mild, but I would really like to be clear. The treatment I’m on right now seems to be doing a pretty good job, but i still get breakouts. It seems like every weekend i get three more pimples before the next monday of school. I’m going into the derm. soon and I’m sure he’s going to suggest accutane.. because he mentioned it could be an option last time i saw him. I just don’t know what i should do, just out wait the acne throughout high school and wish it to go away? Or risk accutane?

I’m 23 years old, and I’ve been having moderate to severe acne since I was a young teen. I’ve been going to the dermatologist on and off for about 10 years now, since I was 13, and nothing has ever really been able to clear up my acne. Over the past 10 years, I’ve been prescribed antibiotics, birth control pills, Differin gel, Clinda-derm, Retin-A, and ProActiv (amongst other treatments I’m probably forgetting), but nothing has worked. Lately it seems like my acne is just getting progressively worse. My entire face (specifically my cheeks and chin) is currently covered with cystic pimples — it’s so severe that I feel embarrassed to even leave the house sometimes.

I made an appointment with my dermatologist for next week to see if I can get on Accutane. My question is: does it work? If you took it, did it work for you? Did you experience any really bad side effects while you were taking it?

How should my SKIN look when Im done Accutane?

I’ve been on it for 3.5months and only have 2 weeks to go till Im done my prescription. Im still getting a couple deep cystic acne & and few more smaller ones

I saw a Demo at the beginning of my treatment & have just been going to a regular doctor for monthly check up, blood work, etc…

I’ve been taking 50mg a day of the generic Claris & am 140lb. The only side effects really are the usual dry lips & I love that my hair isn’t as oily!

Ok, so I would say my acne is moderate. It’s certainly not severe, and sometimes it even appears to be very mild. However there is pretty much always at least one zit on my face. Sometimes it’s just one that’s deep and protruding and others it’s several little bumps.

However my skin does not respond to any treatments well. I’ve tried epiduo, differin, benzaclin, acanya, ziana, many prescription washes, even oral antibiotic therapy and blue light.. Nothing. It does not respond. To top it off, my skin is ridiculously oily. I look greasy 24/7. I have been monitored by a dermatologist (one that no longer handles accutane patients) for quite some time and we have not made much progress. Sometimes I clear for a week and bam it’s back again. And nothing stops the oil!

Accutane and Proactiv? Side effects?

I’ve heard a lot of people talk about them for acne treatment, but I heard they can bring side effects. Did you use them and if so, would you recommend any of them? My acne is not very severe but I get occasional cystic pimples or breakouts.

Can any legal doctor prescribe them, or do I have to go to those major hospital/skin centres? Also, if Accutane or Proactiv didn’t work for you, what did and were the effects lasting?

Before I went on Accutane, I had severe acne on my face, chest, and back. My dermatologist had me try many topical creams and pills but nothing ever worked. Accutane completely cleared it up. Now it is mildly returning on my face, chest, and back. I’ve been using Pro-Activ but it hasn’t been doing anything. I’m very scared of my acne becoming severe again. Is there ANYTHING, like an at-home treatment, that is almost guaranteed to work?
