I’m taking 800% more vitamin A than I’m supposed to. Is this dangerous?
I’m doing this because I’m 22 now and realized my severe cystic acne isn’t going to go away on it’s own and so I have decided to take drastic measures. Accutane is just a synthetic form of vitamin A. The good thing is that I’ve had no side effects even though I’m taking so much. I don’t even have chapped lips. My skin’s still oily but not as much as before. Results have been good, but my skin’s still far from completely clear. I started about 2 weeks ago. What’s the difference between Accutane (Isotretinoin) and vitamin A? Why can’t I just take vitamin A? And if I keep this up, but later end my treatment when I’m cured, and then get pregnant, could I give birth to a baby with a birth defect, even if I get pregnant months or years away from end of treatment?

Too much is toxic
Too much of ANYTHING can have future Consequenses… So is your Acne THAT bad- that you’re willing to risk your Future- for…? :0
Vitamin A can be a very dangerous one to take to much of!! It can permanently cause major damage to vital internal organs!! Please stop taking so much and consult a doctor!! Do some online research!! I know this because I did some research about vitamins years ago!! I was quite thorough! You can take vitamin e and c in high doses but not A!!!! Acne can be horrible I know but it is not worth destrying your health!! Have you talked to a dermatologist??? They have made some amazing advances in skin care!!
yes, taking too much vitiman A is not good! IT can cause an enlarged liver and spleen, nausa, skinpeeling, hairloss, irregular periods, growth defects, blurred vision, stomach ache, orange skin, vomiting, dizzyness, clumsyness, vertigo, flushed skin on the face, cracked lips.etc. If u take too much of it during pregnancy then yes it can cause birth defects. Accutane is a great product to acne. It is a retinoid which means that it derives from vitamin A. It can also cause birth defects so u should not try to get pregnant while taking it. Also studies show that birthcontrol pills MAY be less effective while taking accutane. not sure, but im pretty sure that accutaine has pretty much the same affect as vitiman a if u overdose on it. I use accutaine and i think that it is a GREAT product….just dont overdose on it!!!!!
I am nowhere close to an expert but common sense tell me that you are going about it in the wrong way.
As far as I know it is inflammation in the pores and may require antibiotics to cure and prevent permanent scars.
It would be advisable to seek and follow medical advice,
aren’t there other treatments for acne? too much VitA can damage your liver. try some other different treatment if you don’t like the effects of Accutane but want the result, i’m on a topical medicine, Differin. ask your dermatologist about that.
