Does anyone have experience with teenagers using Accutane?
Yes, I am aware of the downside of teens using this product. But after trying Dermatologists, Proactive, Probiotics – in short – everything I can think of, my 15 year old son is very upset over his cystic acne.
Does Accutane work on someone this young or are his hormones going too crazy at this point for anything to work?
Obviously if he started showing symptoms of depression while taking this I would stop the treatment immediately.

Yes it works. Have you already tried Tetracycline in various doses already? I hardly ever meet anyone that has cystic acne, noone can really understand the difference unless they have it. Tell your son that for me, please, because just knowing someone else has the cysts to can help. But I would definately let him get on the Accutane, if different doses of Tetracyline don’t work. I take 500 mg, used to be 1000 mg a day, and I’m a girl. Just find him something quickly, because cysts hurt! (In more ways than one.) Good luck to him! I hope he’s as lucky as I was with the meds.
Oh no! I’m so sorry to hear you son is going through this!!! I had cystic acne for 7 years before I started using Proactiv (they also have the Extra Strength formula). I used to work for Proactiv and I’m very curious to know… EXACTLY how was he using these products? How many times a day? Is he invovled in any other sports? Does he touch his face a lot? What’s his diet like? Please email me at DTaveras88@yahoo.com I’m pretty sure I can help. Though I’m only 19, I have helped over 400 people with their acne.
Water is very important for your body to work properly. Will JUST drinking more water make your acne go away? I haven’t had that experience. It shoud be helpful for your overall health though.
