Accutane and Proactiv? Side effects?

I’ve heard a lot of people talk about them for acne treatment, but I heard they can bring side effects. Did you use them and if so, would you recommend any of them? My acne is not very severe but I get occasional cystic pimples or breakouts.
Can any legal doctor prescribe them, or do I have to go to those major hospital/skin centres? Also, if Accutane or Proactiv didn’t work for you, what did and were the effects lasting?
Lastly, just a side question: Do birth control pills make you gain weight and do they work for acne?

My birth control pills did make me gain weight but its fairly easy to lose again.. they did help my acne immensely.
Also I am a firm believer in the Proactiv products! I didn’t have any reactions or side effects and it worked wonders on my skin. Some people don’t react the same way, however. Its definitely worth your time to try it!
Accutane has really bad side effects, try proactiv first.
Proactiv is not a prescription medication. You can buy it online. The only side effects with Proactiv are possibly dry skin and bleached clothing (if you get it on your clothes).
If your acne is not severe, there is no reason to do accutane. Any doctor should tell you that. Accutane has quite a few risks, especially for women.
I was on the pill for hormonal reasons and yes, it totally helped my acne. I don’t think it made me gain weight, though…I think my eating habits did that!
I tried proacitv and it didn’t work…I also tried accutane but the side effects are REALLY bad and I had to give up on it.
Now I am using Differin and it’s working for me!
You need to see a dermatologist so you can get Differin or Accutane…but if I were you I wouldn’t choose accutane!
If your acne is not severe, then you don’t need accutane. I used it and the side effects are severe dry skin, cracked lips, etc. You also have to be using effective birth control, because it can cause birth defects. My dermatologist told me that proactiv works for some people, and doesn’t work for others, so the only way you would know is to try it for yourself. Some people do gain weight on BC pills, it made me gain weight.
You could possibly have the thought that cystic acne treatment involves a procedure equivalent to explaining rocket science to a three yr old. Well, which will be a tricky job even to the older academic giants among us. It is treatment shouldn’t be as tough as such, in reality, each and every person really should approach the method in a calm manner as it’s coupled with ease.
